Topic for the Final Presentation

My final Presentation will be discussing the changes in architecture and urban planning in Beijing,China. Since China is developing its capital to a modern metropolis to meet the need of economic growth, there are many people questioning about the fact that is Beijing walking forward to the right way. As a result, in these presentation I will bring up information to my audience in a Middle style and let them think about the fact and my opinions.

Topic : Changes of life and architecture in Beijing

Speech Goal: My goal is to inform my audience the background and changes between the old and new Beijing.

Introduction: From the time China reopened its door to the West, all of the things in China has been changing. Recently, the big event, Olympic 2008 in Beijing brings attention how far Beijing is changing in urban planning and architectural design from the world. Besides the big event, the deconstruction of the city and the new and fancy buildings has been a big question in the world of architecture and habitation in China.

Statement of the topic: The fact of the changing of Beijing is an unstoppable movement in Beijing.

Preview: Discussing the background and reason of architectural changes in Beijing.

Transition: The Style of building in Beijing goes extreme.

Point one: Including those Olympic stadiums and public facilities, the designs of them are totally opposite the “Old Beijing”. While some of the people claims that those building destroying the historical Beijing, others support the movement because that will bring the revolution not only to China but to the whole architecture world.
Transition: Changes are not only happen in architectural design but also the urban planning.

Point two: Because of the big projects which is to accomplish the goal of making a new Beijing, the resident of the whole city have to move from the hutong to new apartment complex. Urban planning takes time to get its result so we can only wait for it. However, as an example from the U.S., separate the residential area from the city might face transportation problems.
Transition: Beside the worries, one thing we can sure about on the bright side is that big changes in residential area will helps the improvement of public health issue.

Point three: Beijing is, without doubt, an historical city not only to the Chinese but to the humanity. We want to have a piece of history while keep the development of economic going. Apparently, the old building structure will not be suitable for nowadays uses in commercial and residential. There we meet the conflict of modern and history. What we can do to success in keeping both of them? or there is no chance for the greed purpose?

Transition: We do not know what the right answer is but we can work on it.

Conclusion: The changes happen in Beijing are something we can not stop but we can deal with it in a logical way. Besides, we should remember something in human history, taking risk in our development is part of the journey

Parallelism appears in critics a lot, especially in Movie critics. Their purpose is to give the readers a brief but attractive information to the movie.
In this sentence,"You come away impressed, oppressed, provoked, and beaten down, holding on to Ledger's squirrelly incandescence as a beacon in the darkness.", The first three adjective is talking about the experience of the viewer of the movie. The later phrases are trying to even stronger the idea of how impress the view will be.

In stead of the original witting, this is a alternative:

The commas will helps to strength the words"down" and "on" in order to describ the exciting experience in the film.

"Real World" grammar example

Crocker Science House
In this advertisement, the feature of the building ,"Beautiful architecture , classic interior, and fully furnished, quiet,comfortable living space."
The first three words are the characters of the building appearance while the rest of the sentences is providing information to the readers what living conditions they can get in the building. So, in this sentence, parallelism is use in a way to separate information rather than giving readers a strong and attractive sentences.
The other parallel sentence is "Crocker Science House traditions include activities that are intellectually enhancing, service oriented, and of course , fun."
This time, the words are not parallel in order to emphasize the last word- fun while the first two descriptions are solid in formation.

This notice is written in a list of parallelism form.
Each of the point started with a verb. This emphazize what you, the readers, will do in the meeting. The readers can easily get the information and get the strong idea of what to do in the meeting. Overall, using a list can make the notice sharp and clean.

Improvement

In The Craft of Research, the authors suggested to set up a relationship between you and the readers. I always consider there is only a role in a essay - the promoter and the receiver. When I am the writer, everything I do is to attract and persuade my readers. however, in the book, the authors told us that the role of the writer can be separate into half. Half of the role is to stand to the side of the readers and get their attention. The other half is to while persuading the audience, you can still develop your own ideas and express it within the discussion to the audience.
There is another thing I found out that I can improve. When giving out evidences, I usually use one evidence or one reasons to one problem. According to the book, reasons and evidences can be linked in a way that they related to each other. In other words, the one reason can lead to the others and on and on. This make the essay more coherence and can help developing the ideas of ours.

Summary of the Craft of Research

This book is a illustration of the strategy of writing a research paper. Here is some of the part which I think is most important to writers:

The first important thing we should do is to write down every idea pop up in your mind and every detail from the sources which you think it is worth to mention in your paper.This would help you to remember the ideas, understand the idea and finally the most important part : to develop the idea in your own perspective. However, we should be careful of the way you write. Because you are writing a research paper, you should not just using "you" or "what you think" when you are discussing or developing the ideas.

The second thing is to narrow your topic. A topic which is too wide can lead to a failure of ideas development. We can start a topic by questioning about it. Besides, it is easy for us to think critically.When we are questioning, we are expected to solve the problem too. Also, we shoild keep in mind that some of the readers are just reading you essay for fun, they are not really seeking for a answer to a problem. As a result, we should get their interest to the problem and led them to the answer.

The last one is the spirit of your essay- the arrguement. Only when we do a good arrgument can gain our audiences's attention and strenght our point of view. The begining is to make a claim. Obviously, the claim is the idea of your essay and you would like to discuss it. So, after we give out a claim. we need to have reason and evidences. In order to have a good arrgument, we should not only give out only one or couple reasons. The reasons and the evidences should be link together or in otherwords, they are collbrate with each other. For example, because there is reason A, we can bring up reaon a, b, c..... in a logicla way.

Introduction
In order to support your idea, you need to have a good citation. Knowledge is built up Knowledge which means that a new knowledge is coming out from studying the already-known knowledge and conclude in to a new point of idea. As a result, the citation in an essay can be specify in to two catalogs: The primer source and secondary source. The primer ones is supported by the secondary ones. This would allows not only to support your idea but also to proof that your information is trustful to the readers.

Integrating Sources into a Paper
Before adding information in to your paper, there are a lots of things you need to be aware of . When summarizing a idea from another author in order to support yours, you need to do the following task.The first thing is to paraphrase. Then make the summary clear that you are summarizing not making a new idea and having your own opinion on the other author's idea. The last one is do not integrate far far alway from your idea. You need to make your reason of why you giving the readers the infromation.
Besides the summary of other's idea, using quating is another method of in tergating information to your paper. However, we should use quating only when it is better that paraphrasing and becareful of the rules of comma, close quatation marks,open quatation marks,etc. We can also quate a block if the quating is more than 10 sentances. Because we are giving out so much information in our paper, we should provide some footnot for the readers in order to read our essay more easily.

Citing Sources
We should be becareful og citing. There is time good to citi and time that is not. Beside there are bunches of rules of when to and when to not citing, I summarized them in to two main point. The first one is only use citation when they are strongly related to your idea but not to domaniting your essay since this is your essay not the others. The second point is do not make yourselves appear to be stupid in your own essay that you keep talking somthing everybody know and keep saying other's idea but not yours.
After you have consider what to citi, you need to do some technical work for the citing sources. Founding out what fromate your are using in your essay and follow the countries's rules where your essay will be presented.

Misuse of Sources
No ones want to be SUED because of plagiarism.
So, we had to clearify where the sources is and say it in our own way in order to show we are not just coping it from others. If you are working in a group, there is a potential risk of plagiarism since you ar all work together and share each other comments. You should only discuss and take note but not to speak out what your paper is. The last one is misunderstood an information or using an incorrect information. Your had to totally understand what you have read and critique it in your mind in order to see if it is right for your essay and not a joke.

Styles of Documentation
In this section, it is simply telling us about what format we can use in citation. citation can be presented in footnote, graphic, text, special information from a special field( for example, science),etc. After all, remember to referance all your sources at the end that your readers can refer to the informations.

Basically, I think the writer is trying to be funny and escape from just saying "Come and eat seafood". The orientation of the advertisement is a path leading you to the purpose of the poster. First, it say something which is likely to be true.Then it start to say something which is likely incorrect . Finally , it say something you are unsure about and start asking your self "Am I right about all these statement?". That is a way to make you follow the poster to the end.
